Jernej Verbič (born March 29, 1952) is a member of the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia.

Political career[edit]

Verbič actively started his political career after 1995, when he became the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Municipality of Postojna. He was also the President of the Local Community of Postojna and of the Consultative Council of the Local Community of Municipality of Postojna. In 1998, he became a member of the Municipal Council and also Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Postojna until he was elected Mayor in 2002. He holds this position for the third term.

He was elected to the National Council of the Republic of Slovenia as a representative of regional interests in 2007, and was re-elected in November 2012 for the second term.

Education[edit]

Golob graduated in history and sociology (pedagogical course of study) at the University of Ljubljana.
